Flower of Holy Spirit

https://challenguate.wordpress.com/2013/04/18/catasetum-integerrimum/

This is one of the orchid species named flower of the holy spirit.  When the flower blooms, it looks like flying dove. How amazing is God Creation!

  4. The praying saint bud is not the unopened bloom of the habenaria radiata, or dove orchid.

  6. Sadly, this isn't exactly accurate. Whoever put this together married 2 separate orchid images together and NEITHER is the "Holy Ghost" orchid. The "Open" one is the Japanese "White Egret Orchid" and the "Praying" one is the Catasetum integerrimum just prior to blooming and neither blooms around the "Pentecostal" time of year.

The "Holy Ghost Orchid" is a completely different Orchid that is the national flower of Panama and is Endangered. It blooms in the fall.

If you want to buy seeds for the one on the right, you can do it here:

    Here's more info on it.

This is another case of someone deciding to take random pictures and marry them together to make an appealing story. I wish it were true but, in this case, it's not.

    1. Thank you for this info. It was exactly what I was looking for to answer the questions. I knew this wasn't right when the only place I could find it was on just one site.

  7. Funny because the unopened bloom is shown in one of the pics with the flowers that have blossomed ..definitely not the "saint"
